Today’s Declutter Item
Finally starting to reduce the amount of crafting supplies. Every birthday card I make every celebration someone asks me to create invitations for is one step closer to a less cluttered craft area.
Things that made me happy, made me laugh, made me feel grateful, fascinated me or I thought were just plain awesome.
- Lots of chats with the neighbours ~ The time just flies then you realise you are half an hour late to start cooking dinner. Having an efficient decluttered kitchen helped put me back on track.
- Soap that comes in cardboard boxes with no individual wrapping.
- Getting my tea party invitations made and delivered.
- A refreshing shower at the end of the day ~ followed by a cup of tea.
- All the wonderful minimalist bloggers out there who contribute to our collective wealth of knowledge.
It matters not how fast I go, I hurry faster when I’m slow.

I’m touched that you included my comment! & I stand by everything I said in it 😉 I really enjoy your blog. As I mentioned before, the day-of-the-week clutter clearing motivators have been AWESOME for me this week; I want to do it every week!
In response to your soap comment, I always buy bar-soap at my food co-op or at the farmer’s market, where you just pick one up off a stack – no packaging at all! But that may not be an option in everyone’s location.
I’m also grateful for “All the wonderful minimalist bloggers out there who contribute to our collective wealth of knowledge.” When I began my current round of my decluttering journey, I wanted to make room for something I hadn’t imagined yet – allow the universe to surprise me. I find myself opening to ideas I never thought possible before, and discovering synchronicity that makes me laugh at how awesome the universe is. And all the wonderful blogs I’ve been reading, by real people having real thoughts and doing real work, have inspired this in my life. Thanks for this senitment, and for being one of them!

Hi Liina,
it was entirely my pleasure and thank you for dropping by and reading what I have to say. Maybe next year if I get to Seattle we may be able to get together for a coffee somewhere and a great philosophical chat. I am glad the weekly mini missions are working well for you I think think they are particularly helpful when you lose motivation and need someone else to come up with ideas to get you started again.
There are a lot of great bloggers out there doing their bit to keep minimalism alive I hope it catches on to more and more people and the world becomes a better place for it.
Have a great weekend!

Colleen, that would be way cool to meet with you if you do make it out this way!
& I would love to see the world become a better place from minimalism!

I really enjoyed this quote, found on Simply Being Mum’s blog: ‘It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.’ Confucious
Colleen says
I agree Cindy, I think I have said something similar here many times. I also love the one at the end of my post each day “It matters not how fast I go, I hurry faster when I’m slow”.

Hey Colleen,
Thank you so much for linking to my Nostalgia, Sentiments and Stuff post! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I actually read and enjoyed all of the other blog posts you have listed above except for Widow’s Cottage. That’s a new one for me and I can’t wait to check it out!
I love this Friday five idea of yours so much that I’m planning to adopt something similar on my site. It’s such a great way to build community and help readers and bloggers find each other.
P.S. I’m looking forward to nicer weather in Ohio so I can chat with my neighbors again. It’s in the 30s here and everyone just hides out in their houses when it’s this cold. 🙂

Hi jenny,
it was my pleasure to link to your site in fact I think I found a couple of the other sites I linked to through your site so thank you for that. Meg at Minimalist women also links to a lot of great sites and I often go to her site for inspiration when looking for a good read.
It is in the 30s here to only Celsius which is quite warm this can also keep people inside with their air-conditioners. I love a good chat with my neighbours, my family or strangers on the street for that matter. Lets face it I just love a good chat.

Colleen, Thanks for linking to my Fave Five post. I too stand by everything I say in it. 🙂 And I wish all my weeks were as simple. Normally, all our hand and bath soap comes from a friend who makes her own soap. I know what’s in it and I know that the person who made it is someone I can trust to use only healthy ingredients (and little packaging).
Colleen says
Hi Willow,
I have seen a few blogs recently where they have been making their own soap and it sounds like it could be fun. There are plenty of store around here that sell unpackaged soap but they charge as much for a bar as the grocery store charges for a pack of 4. So I just look for the cheaper stuff that comes in a cardboard box that can be recycled.

Hi Colleen! I saw a quote today that may is exactly what your blog is for me: “United we stand, divided we fall.” It’s a very used quote, but for me being with you (and I mean all the readers that post comments and going to see the links posted) has the effect of not letting me go back to my cluttered ways, ;-). Everytime I think of letting go I stop by my computer, turn on the internet and get inspired all over again. All the links posted this friday made me go little further along my goal of decluttering. I may have become a little sidetracked, but being together with others with similar problems and goals, seeing other stay at home mums struggling to make things work at home, working part time, makes me feel that I have a lot of support. So I stand together with you and divided, being alone, would mean I would fall. Thanks
Colleen says
Hi Andreia,
how lovely of you to say such nice thing. I send thanks not only from myself but on behalf of Cindy and all the wonderful readers who make 365lessthings such an inspiration for you. It is always nice to have a soft place to fall when you need a little tender loving care. I am happy to have you standing next to me and I am glad to be of help, any time.

Hi Colleen thank you so much for the link. I do a section on a Saturday where I let my readers know about great reads out there. It’s a fab way to share the wealth of info out there in our community. I am planning on doing a lot more reading, and have just subscribed to your blog so I can have a really good dig through. If you would like to share your story on my blog as part of “faminimalism” please do drop me a line – I’d love to have you – Jo
